Healthy Alternatives is a holistic based practice specializing in car accidents, work-related injuries, slip and fall and other types of personal injury. Because of the nature of personal injury and specifically in regard to the auto insurance tort laws in effect since 2003 the engagement of an experienced personal injury lawyer is imperative to protect your rights. We work with some of the best and most experienced personal injury lawyers in the Denver area.

Meet the Doctor

Dr. Dennis Miller has been a licensed chiropractor since 1987 and has practiced in both Colorado and the Netherlands. He is also licensed to practice acupuncture. Dr Miller is a Colorado native and graduated from the University of Colorado before beginning his chiropractic studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. He lives in Centennial, Colorado with his wife and three boys.

Our Services

Chiropractic is the main focus of treatment in our office. We utilize traditional chiropractic adjusting along with flexion-distraction and Activator technique. When appropriate, acupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy, exercise and other cutting-edge treatments like Body Restoration Technique (BRT) will be utilized to restore your health back to a state as close as possible to pre-accident status.

Other Health Conditions

Many of the patients coming to our office have been through the mill a few times regarding their health. They may have tried conventional medicine with mixed results or have conditions that are often minimized or ignored because there is no effective means of medical treatment (e.g. fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc.). Energy techniques like BRT offer these people new hope. For others wishing to minimize or avoid pharmaceutical use, BRT offers a wonderful alternative. If the body’s regulatory problem can be properly identified and corrected the symptoms will go away on their own and not need to be covered up by a potentially toxic drug.

How We Work

After we have reviewed and discussed your health concerns Dr. Miller will do a physical examination and evaluation. Once the problems areas are determined a treatment plan will be discussed and agreed upon. If additional diagnostics are necessary, they will be arranged with  the appropriate medical diagnostic centers in concert with your medical doctor.

What is Muscle Response Testing?

BRT uses muscle response testing (MRT) as an additional tool to gather information about the body. Muscle response testing (MRT) is a technique that is valuable to many procedures and treatments. It is a viable, efficient and effective tool for determining the body’s needs. MRT is currently being used by medical doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, osteopaths, holistic dentists, veterinarians and others. MRT was developed by Dr. George Goodheart, a chiropractor, in 1964. It was derived from the principles of acupuncture.

How is MRT Done?

The practitioner gently pushes down on the patient’s extended arm which is exerting resistance against the doctor’s downward pressure. If we simultaneously activate the nervous system briefly by touching a sensitive area on the body, a weakened reflex, an active acupuncture point or even a negative thought the nervous system will temporarily "short-circuit", causing the testing arm to go momentarily weak. In this way we can get a yes/no response from the nervous system. This reveals additional information about problem areas in the body and how to better treat them.

How Long Will Treatments Last?

Our goal at Healthy Alternatives is to approach long lasting relief and resolution of your injuries by restoring normal regulation and communication within the body. This does not mean that deregulation and miscommunication cannot reoccur from future stressors, as after all, we are living beings. Even a healthy person with no complaints cannot be guaranteed permanent good health. However, after appropriate treatment our muscles, joints and nervous system will be functioning at a much more optimal level and will be able to resist deregulation to a higher degree. When pre-accident status has been achieved or no further significant therapeutic gains are being realized, a state of Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI) will have been reached and treatment will come to an end.
